What's New

Updates to TimeCardRobot, as released on the App Store.

Version 1.9.2

  • Work weeks ending on any day — Pay calculations and warnings now follow your work week's actual day order everywhere. On non-Saturday-ending weeks, 6th and 7th-day premiums land on the correct days, rest-period checks compare against the right previous day, and holiday spillover detects the right calendar date.
  • Fill Down — Fills from the row you're focused on. Previously it could source times from the wrong crew row.
  • Show export/import — A crew member's hire schedule (Daily/Weekly/Auto) now survives the round trip, preserving overtime calculations on import.
  • PDF save errors — If a time card can't be written (disk full, permissions), you now get a clear error instead of a silently missing file.
  • My Work CSV export — Works again from the File menu while My Work is open.
  • Toolbar polish — Content blurs softly as it scrolls beneath the toolbar, and trial or demo indicators no longer shift the toolbar buttons when they appear.
  • Subscribe menuHelpSubscribe… is always available, and reads Manage Subscription… once you're subscribed.
  • Plus — The reduced turnaround exception button is restored in the Weekly view, Summary categories gained keyboard shortcuts (⌥⌘E to expand, ⌥⇧⌘E to collapse), automatic pre-upgrade backups now run before version migrations, and assorted stability improvements.

Version 1.9.1

  • Demo Mode — A Welcome-screen path lets you explore TimeCardRobot with a built-in sample show, separate from any real shows you've created. While Demo Mode is active, your real shows are hidden so you can experiment freely; toggle from the Help menu any time.
  • My Work overlay — Your paychecks-across-shows view opens from a dedicated briefcase button in the toolbar (or ⌘0) instead of living in the sidebar. Slides in over the detail area while the sidebar stays visible-but-dimmed; click any sidebar item or hit ⌘0 again to dismiss.
  • Configurable work week — Pick which day of the week each work week ends, not just Saturday. The Add Work Week sheet has a new calendar-style picker; shows that shoot a Wed–Sun pattern (or shift mid-season) can match the schedule exactly. Day tabs, weekly grids, and PDF time cards all flow in chronological work-week order.
  • Contract Compare Mode — New Compare button in the Contract view shows two contracts side-by-side. Pick from the hierarchical picker and step through every section — Scale Rates, Meal Periods, Overtime Rules, Turnaround, 6th/7th Day Premiums, Fringe Benefits, and Holidays. Toggle “Show Differences” to cyan-tint cells that don't match.
  • Paycheck math validation — On My Work, the orange triangle now catches three kinds of typo: Net Pay not matching Gross − Deductions, Gross not matching Taxable + Box Rentals + Reimbursements, and Pension Hours exceeding Total Hours. Click for a breakdown of which check failed and by how much.
  • Important math fix — Paycheck rows used to balance “by luck” when Box Rental or Reimbursement amounts were entered — the previous formula was double-counting those values and silently masking real discrepancies. Now corrected.
  • Bug fix — Paycheck deduction columns no longer flicker when the active filter contains equal counts of EP and C&C-style paychecks. The column order is now deterministic.
  • Reconciliation polish — Money fields format with $ and thousand commas ($2,850.00). Negative numbers silently clamp to 0. Tabbing through cells auto-scrolls the data column to keep the focused field visible. Expanding a row near the bottom of the screen scrolls into view.
  • Today button works from any view — Jump to today's work week with one click from Show, Crew, or Contract views, not just from a week view.
  • PDF polish — Refined header and field positions across Time Card, Daily Timesheet, and Box Rental forms. Columns and underlines align cleanly throughout.

Version 1.7.1

  • Backup Manager — Automatic weekly backups plus pre-upgrade and pre-restore safety snapshots, all manageable from SettingsPreferencesBackups. Restore from an in-app backup or any .tcrbackup file on disk.
  • Standalone Paychecks — Track income that isn't tied to a tracked week, like residuals or non-IA gigs. Standalone checks auto-pair with matching work weeks when the amount and week-ending date line up. Add one quickly via the new “+” button on My Work.
  • Northeast Corridor Rates — Local 600 Northeast Corridor wage rates for productions shooting in CT, DE, DC, MD, MA, NJ, NY, PA, and RI.
  • Contract View redesign — Overtime rules now display as a colored timeline strip plus natural-language sentences. Each tier carries its own basis (worked vs. elapsed time) for accurate mixed ladders like Golden Hours.
  • Smoother time entry — Click anywhere in a Daily or Weekly time cell to focus it and select the value, the same way Excel and Numbers behave. Refreshed focus indicator across all editable grid cells, including the My Work reconcile fields.
  • My Work polish — Paycheck math validation flags when components don't sum to the gross. New per-paycheck “Deposit Verified” toggle.
  • Wider macOS support — Now runs on macOS 15.0 Sequoia and later (previously 15.6+).
